Prayer For Those In The Military

Almighty God, we call upon You to clarify the division in our country over militia. All I know and I pray for is a blessing upon my loved ones that serve in these special forces and those that serve on the front line of our country defending and protecting it. We ask that their leaders be Godly that our nation may stand.
Their duty is so difficult and tasking, as I sit at home in my comfort. They have been trained in ways and warfare that I couldn't dream of participating in. They are far from home and loved ones and that is a great burden. I miss them and love them, but I want foremost to recognize their hardships and to minister to them.
Lord, be with them and be their peace. In the face of adversity strengthen them and be their comfort. Father God, let them know that the majority of our Christians believe in their calling and support them. Help us to do the little things that will comfort them.
As they take leave and return to their state land, grant them R&R and a chance to recover from the hardships they have faced. Help us to provide for their needs whether physical, mental or spiritual. Make our country once again proud of those that defend our homeland. Protect our men and women that serve and teach us to minister to them. They are very special and we thank You for watching over our troops, through Christ Jesus, our Commander-in chief. Amen

Lord God, throughout my life You have blessed me by sending people into my life that I have had sweet companionship and fellowship with, and I thank You for that.
In Your Word, and in my life there is a special friend I desire to pray for today. Pro 18:24 "There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother." My friend is that special person I desire to bring before You today in prayer and ask that You be mindful and bless all this person has meant and done in my life.
This special friend has the same unconditional love for me that You display. And I for my friend. We have learned this through the love Christ has for us.
We have been through many trials together, but the memories of the good times far outweigh any burdens we have shared.
I do not know if I adequately express to my friend how much I love them and appreciate our unique relationship. I can freely tell You how much You mean to me, and I pray You help me to express to them, how very important they are in my life.
I pray that I do not lean on them so much that the relationship be imbalanced. I pray that I do not lean on them so much that I usurp You. But I desire to have them aware of how very important they are and have been in my life and I desire to be that to them. Give me words and deeds to let them know. Shower them with blessings from above. Keep them far from harm.
Help me to always remember that a true friend is a gift on loan from You. Help me to also remember as they look to You to guidance, may they also look to me to reflect You.
Grant my special friend joy abounding, perfect peace of mind which comes from Christ, stability in their relationship with You, and grant us both the endurance to stick closer than a brother as Your Word describes. Grant them quality of life.
I thank You for this opportunity to pray for them, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Brother. Amen

Prayer To Cease Gossiping

Almighty God, I come to You humbled and sorrowed today. We all know of what the "Seven Deadly Sins" are. We all know that You hate what I have now found myself participating in--gossip.
Pro 6:16 "There are six things which God hates; Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him: Pro 6:17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood; Pro 6:18 A heart that devises wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief, Pro 6:19 A false witness that utters lies, And he that sows discord among brethren."
I see my sin of omission and commission. When I heard the gossip I should have shut my ears immediately and refused to listen to it. That would have been the right thing to do. And instead of being so swift to run and tell another, I should have been silent and refused to lower myself repeating gossip.
I am truly sorry for my actions and I regret deeply harming another with slanderous words that are not true. I am not only disappointed in my actions, but I also know I have disappointed as well as angered You.
Lord, help me to rectify this wrong I have done in harming another with careless and untrue words. May You guide me to make it up to that person and to seek their forgiveness. May You also guide me to trace my steps back and tell those that have heard my words how wrong I was.
I have sinned against You, Almighty God in word, thought and deed. Forgive me and make this a valuable lesson for me to never participate in such an unwise sin again. If I should ever become the target of gossip, let me accept it as retribution and be as swift to forgive. Help me to encourage that person that I have harmed of Your love as well as my repentance for this situation. May they forgive me also, through the power of Christ Jesus. Amen

I respect my in-laws because they are blood relations of my spouse. At times I feel I take second place, but I know that is the flesh talking. I know that all parents are to be honored so that it might go well with us.
I ask You Lord to bless them and to help the lines of communication stay open between us. I know it is difficult for them to relinquish control of my spouse because of all the years of child rearing they have to lean on.
I pray that You will help me to be fair and impartial when we do lock horns.
I pray that You help me to realize that we both want what is best for my spouse, however our approaches might be different.
I pray that You remind me that I serve You first and that I represent Jesus Christ in this household.
I pray that I might always be reasonable and patient with my in-laws because it is Your will that we honor our parents, including them.
I pray that I might not have a spirit of jealousy or possession come upon me.
I pray that as I make household decisions they be made with the mind of Christ which is beneficial to the whole of the family.
I pray that I recall no one is perfect. Help me not to blow things out of proportion when I deal with our differences.
I pray that our family gatherings and holidays be held in peace and harmony, and that I am impartial where and when and who with we should gather.
I pray that my spouse treat me n a Biblical example from the Word and that they might cling to me while bringing honor to their parents.
I pray for Your peace and blessings to be upon the entire extended family. I recall the blessings upon Naomi's daughter-in-law Ruth for care and loyalty, and her decision to follow You. May this blessing be mine also, through Christ Jesus. Amen

Prayer Against Discouragement

Lord God, I know it is not the best way to approach You with whining and whoa on our lips. I know that we are to come before Your throne of grace with thanksgiving and praise. Forgive me for these circumstances that have me so cast down. Grant me Your grace and mercy despite my downcast spirit.
I will never forget that Your Word declares, Pro 23:7 "For as he thinks within himself, so is he." Lately I have fallen into the trap where I do not recall my blessings, but dwell on my losses. I not only believe what is said about me by the ungodly, but I have started to recant those negative words to myself.
Lord God, I have brought these circumstances to You, and with all my heart I do believe You are working them out to my good and to Your glory. I need to ask You to strengthen me and to remove this discouragement from me. I recall King David saying, "Renew a right spirit within me." That is exactly what I need Lord---renewal.
Forgive me for the injustice I do to Your name when I can not testify of Your goodness and glory. Forgive me for those moments when I doubt myself and choose discouragement. I know that with You, all things are possible. That is not dependent on me. I must recognize that You are indeed in control.
Help me to worship You and praise Your name again. Don't allow me to become a slave to human nature where we want all things bright and beautiful. Help me to understand their are valleys and mountaintops in our lives, and allow me to see You walking with me through this shadowy period.
Lift me up, Lord so that I might resist this self defacement in my life and so that I once again my concentrate on the Kingdom of God.
I humbly beseech You for Your favor and help, through Christ the King and Conqueror. Amen

Heavenly Father, serving You is the ultimate adventure by serving others. Let me touch the lives of others with the aroma of Your love and as we go, You go with us.
Help me to put into practice the truths that I know as I reach out to others to rescue them.
Help me then to stand back in awe as You perform spiritual CPR on them.
Let me depend on You for strength, answers, guidance and results with the Holy Spirit's help.
Let me use the wounds and scars in my life to heal the pains in others. It is not that we think we can do anything by ourselves. Our only power and success come from You.
1Co 3:5 "What then is Apollos? and what is Paul? Ministers through whom ye believed; and each as the Lord gave to him." Let me humbly meet the needs of others with love and compassion and commitment. I want to live for You and follow You forever, through Christ Jesus my Savior. Amen

Heavenly Father, I desire to lift my Grandparents in prayer before You and ask You to watch over them and to bless them.
They have taught me so much and they have given me so much of themselves that words and memories could never tell. They were there for so many of my "firsts." They were there with a comfort when I needed it. They were there when I needed a special friend to listen. They have been there to teach me affection. They have been such special people in my life that I need to show somehow how greatly they have blessed me. I know by turning to You in prayer for favor upon them, this is the greatest gift I could give.
Watch over them, dear Lord and guard them from mishap and ill health. I know that some day You will call them home to be with You, but I pray that I might take these treasured precious moments and utilize them. I pray that they will always live on in my heart when they are called to Your bosom.
I pray that You will give me the words to express to them how much I love them--here and now-- and not when they are gone.
I pray that You prevent me from going through a stage in life when I am too concerned with myself and my problems that I don't have time for theirs.
I pray that when the time comes that they need care giving, my heart of compassion will shine and minister to them.
Bless my Grandparents, O Lord, because You have blessed me in assigning them to me. I ask in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Rom 10:15 and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!
Almighty God, You have called missionaries to reach the last, the lost and the least. You have called them to proclaim the beautiful name of Jesus Christ. We pray for Your blessings to be upon these special chosen people.
They are leaving land, loved ones and possessions to minister to others. We pray that You travel with them into the unknown.
Many suffer from cultural shock; we pray You prepare them.
Many suffer from language barriers; we pray You interpret.
Many suffer from loneliness; we pray You be their Companion.
Many suffer from illness and mishap; we pray You be their Healer.
Many suffer from hardships; we pray You protect as You provide.
Many suffer from lack of funding; we pray You will touch others with generosity to support them.
Lord God, as they travel far from home put Your hedge about them and keep them from harm. Help them to truly be compassionate to all others and to represent the love of Christ Jesus with their presence. Help them to show His love in word and deed. Bless them with tongues that will clearly lead others to Jesus and with actions that will relieve those that suffer.
Bless these brave and adventurous souls that are sent with the Good News. And as they prepare to return to their homeland make the adjustment for them with ease. Bless and finance those who are going to the uttermost ends of the earth when we can't. Make us who pray, sensitive intercessors for them through our wonderful and glorious Savior, Christ Jesus. Amen

Prayer Before Competition

Psa 20:7 "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God."
Lord God, I am competing against others in a fair event. I am reminded that I will be viewed by many and that I must retain good sportsmanship. I know that I am competing in Your name, and I will trust in nothing but You alone. I can not pray for a win, unless I have trained to be a winner.
I have readied myself and I am willing to step forward and do my best. I need Your blessing upon me and this event. I have prepared myself to excel and to finish first. I also intend on giving You all the glory and will be a witness of Your excellence and grace.
I pray to You, Lord that I will be mentally and physically alert.
I pray to You, Lord that I will have integrity while competing against others.
I pray to You, Lord that my flesh does not flair up and I shame the name of Christ.
I pray to You, Lord that my entire man be dedicated to excellence.
Help me to compete with confidence in You and to trust You and You alone for the outcome of this event. Examine me and cleanse me from any pride or personal agenda that will not glorify You.
Lord God, may I do my best and You do the rest. Bless me as I compete in Jesus' name. Amen

Prayer For Those Affected By Hurricane Rita

Father God, Your power is awesome. You control the winds and the rains.
Lord, another hurricane named Rita is hitting the southwestern section of the United States. We bring before you those that are being affected by this storm, many of which have recently been affected by the hurricane named Katrina. There are people being moved from temporary housing and those being removed from their homes.
Grant comfort to those that have lost loved ones in both of these storms.
Take control, dear God, of the US government’s efforts to rescue and rehabilitate these people. May our leaders have Your wisdom and guidance, and show love and compassion as they provide aid.
Strengthen and protect those that are involved in this current rescue effort.
Provide shelter to those in the midst of the newest storm, and keep them safe in the palm of Your hand.
Provide emotional healing to all involved with these devastating storms.
Provide the needed means for people to be able to rebuild their homes and their lives.
Through all this, Dear God, may you be glorified and your name honored.
In Jesus name we pray, amen.
